A 6 track funk ep (26m 12s) — released May 8th 2025 on Symphonical Records
In 1977 bass player Robert Andrews, AKA "Baunchie", and drummer Ben Powers Jr, were searching for someone to fill the spot for guitar in their band and it wasn't easy. They were embarking on to something that was quite different than what was going on around the local scene. Although the local cats in Akron were quite able, there was a tone and a vibe that was missing. Until Robert got wind of a very funky, Jimi type of style of guitartist in Buffalo, New York. Darrin Bland, AKA "Blind", 'Baunch' and Ben were older and out of high school.
Darrin was a little younger and and his mother finally came around to letting him venture to Akron for a couple of weeks during the summer. And it was on. "Baunchie and the Funky Kidds was created. After a week of jamming they went in the studio and six tunes were recorded, and made their way on to 3, 45 record's.
As fate would have it though, Darrin returned to Buffalo for school.Ben journied to Atlanta with a local band, and they never played together again.
But the Music lives on.
